How to Do Homework in 2 Hours
Find a place that you can study without distractions. Avoid places like your bedroom or kitchen table, and choose a desk that is comfortable enough to sit in for hours at a time.
Make sure all your homework supplies are in one place. This way, you won’t waste time searching for them.

Make a to-do list.
Creating a to-do list and splitting your tasks into categories can be hugely beneficial for students who have trouble staying on task. It can help you see what’s truly important and what could wait, for example, decorating for Homecoming might be a B task whereas studying for a big test might be an A task so here.
You can also use tools like calendar apps or custom tags to prioritize your tasks. This allows you to see what’s most critical and makes deciding what to do easy.
Be sure to set realistic goals and reward yourself when you complete tasks on time. Even if it’s something small, like a cupcake or a few extra minutes of video game time, it will keep you motivated to leave procrastination in the dust.
Set a timer.
Kids can be notoriously distracted when they are trying to focus on homework or school work. They may start to look around, talk or play with other things that they are not supposed to be playing with. This can turn a 10-minute assignment into an hour long struggle. If you are struggling to keep your child focused try setting a timer. Telling them they have ten minutes to put away their toys, for example, can help them stay focused and get it done quickly.
For older children, using a website or app to block YouTube and other distracting websites during study time can also be helpful. They can monitor their own search history or browsing habits with tracking software to see how much time they are actually spending on non-school related activities.
Limit your access to distractions.
Distractions like text messages, email, and the urge to check social media are common homework obstacles. Make sure to silence all notifications on your phone and put it in a pocket or out of sight when you’re working. You can also download apps that block websites (like Freedom and StayFocusd) or that help you concentrate, like Forest.
For some, fidgeting helps them concentrate, so you might want to bring a stress ball or other small object with you when you study. You can even try using your breath to focus and slow down your thoughts.
If you’re having trouble staying focused, ask a trusted classmate or adult to help keep you accountable for your study time. They might even offer to check in on your progress at certain intervals to help motivate you.
Create a homework group.
If you have a large class, ask students to create their own study groups. Then, add an assignment with a “group submission” option for easy grading. Require each group to submit the work of one member, so you can evaluate participation. You can also require that all members participate in a discussion board forum and include their group name, if they want to get credit.
On the Settings page, select the Number of groups menu and choose a number. Students are evenly assigned among the number of groups you choose. The groups automatically update as you make changes. You can edit the group names and optional descriptions. If you use a group set to assign students to an assignment, the group assignments automatically redistribute when you change the number of groups.
Find a new place to do your homework.
Having the right workspace makes all the difference when it comes to getting your homework done. It’s important to have a place that is free of distractions and clutter, so that you can focus on your work.
Ideally, this should be somewhere away from home and school so that you can avoid unnecessary interruptions. A library can be a great option, since it’s quiet and offers plenty of places to sit and study.
Additionally, many libraries have a “phones-off” or “silent mode” policy that will prevent you from being distracted by social media or phone calls. If you can find a good place to do your homework, it will improve your productivity and recall capacity significantly. You’ll be able to finish your homework in a shorter time and then enjoy the rest of your day!
